Ugh. Why did they do that? Their new Skyactiv AT is awesome. It was one of the first ATs I remember for mainstream vehicles that did rev-matching on downshifts.

Spent all their monies on FWD tranny that fits everything, had none left to R&D a RWD for one car.

off topic but looking at it now, 148 lbs-ft and 155 hp from NA 2.0 is pretty great. I mean, its not big hp, but it probably means it has a nice torque curve with actual power in the low and mid.

My theory is that it’s because people who would order an MX-5 with automatic are bad people... but not so bad that Mazda won’t take their money.

I almost thought about an auto ND until I found this out, the skyactiv is that good.

The first SKYACTIV 6 speeds were clunky at low speeds and slow to respond, but the laters ones like in our CX-5 is good. Real good.
